The identification process of the article is the beginning of each assignment. The article must be identified correctly. This takes time, to access the item and check the condition of it. To identify the item and not check the condition would render the opinion of value useless. To impart wisdom to you “every item you own, maintaining the condition of the item starts the day you purchase it.”

Research, Research, Research.
Every appraiser has their own library. What we do not have on site can be accessed from informed sources within the industry. The internet helps. We understand that not everything on the internet is true, and that the information can’t be verified. Therefore, using the internet comes with a “proceed with caution” sign. Value the Past has mastered the skills of research.

Appraisals, Appraisals, Appraisals
To define an appraisal: it is a formal evaluation of goods or items.
The appraisal must be to the writing standards of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) and the Unified Standards of Professional Appraiser Practice(USPAP).
Every five years we must re qualify for our credentials. International Society of Appraisers (ISA) must critique our writing for the appraisals. Also, we must continue our education during those five years just to keep our credentials.
Unified Standards of Professional Appraiser Practice (USPAP) Standards are classes in standards and must be taken every two years to keep our professional practice credentials.
The written evaluation of the article is the appraisal, an informed opinion of the worth of the item.
